Happy Halloween People!
Halloween wasn’t always a big thing in Singapore, but it seems to be a big party time in recent years. I did have some experience when I was younger because I lived in an estate where there were quite a few American expatriates, so come Halloween, the kids would go round the estate treat or tricking. Even though I never did dress up, we always kept some sweets and chocolate on hand to give out on Halloween and that was pretty fun.

This year, I decided that I wanted to do some Halloween baking and I saw Laura Vitale do Pecan Sandies, which is like a soft cookie with nuts, I think. To make it Halloweeny, I added some pumpkin spice. True, there isn’t actually any pumpkin inside, but it’s the thought that counts, right? I added 1 and 1/2 tablespoons of pumpkin spice (mixture of 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon, 1 tsp ground nutmeg, 1 tsp ground ginger and 3/4 tsp all spice). I would cut down a little on the baking soda because it gives a little too much of an alkaline taste.
Hope everyone has a fun and spooky Halloween!
