Homemade Mothers’ Day Cookies

I like the idea of homemade presents because it lets me customise, I enjoy the process of doing it and seeing the person receiving it enjoy it, just makes it that much more special. This year, for Mothers’ Day, I wanted to do cookies. I’ve done cakes and cupcakes, so this year, I thought cookies would be nice. I’m not the best with royal icing, idea of flooding the cookies kind of scared me, but I found this Youtube channel, SweetAmbsCookies, and it didn’t seem that bad after watching a few videos. So I went out to buy decorating tips, made my cookies and I have to say that I’m pretty pleased with them. Not that these are on any way on par with Amber’s cookies, but I’m starting somewhere.

I used Sally’s Baking Addiction’s Sugar Cookies recipe and Alton Brown’s Royal Icing recipe, and I really do like both recipes. The cookies are crisp on the edges but chewy in the middle and it’s not too sweet, very good on its own too.

So, if you’re at a loss as to what to get your mum this Mothers’ Day, why not try making some cookies? Whatever the outcome, I’m sure your mum would appreciate the effort 🙂
