I have a love-hate relationship with book series or in fact any kinds of series. I love how characters have the opportunity to grow and I as a reader get to know more about them and possibly fall in love with the characters. Then I come to the end of the published books and I realise I have to wait a year or more for the next book *GULP* WHATEVER SHALL I DO IN THE MEANTIME??!!!

I recently finished reading 15 books of Deborah Crombie’s Duncan Kincaid/Gemma James mystery/thriller/detective series and I’m feeling a bit lost, like my best friends have moved away with no hope of hearing from them in the intervening year. I must say that this has got to be one of my favourite book series in recent years. The series follows the cases and lives of Scotland Yard superintendant, Duncan Kincaid and his partner, Gemma James. While the books follow a similar pattern, the premises, the introduction of new characters, the re-introduction of old characters and the development of the lead characters, Duncan and Gemma, kept me captivated for days on end.

What book series would you recommend?
