Mothers’ Day Gift Ideas

You should never need a special occasion to spoil your mother, but Mothers’ Day is always a good time to make that important woman in your life feel that extra special. With Mothers’ Day around the corner (next Sunday, if anyone needs a reminder), I hope this gives some of you some ideas.

IMG_0329Perfume – From Victoria’s Secret body mists, to Body Shop perfumes to Thierry Mugler perfumes, I’ve gotten her all kinds of perfumes at every kind of price points and I think she’s liked them all. If you’re up for a little splurge, I think Jo Malone perfumes make one of the most perfect perfume gifts. The scents are all rather unique, I love the Wood Sage and Sea Salt and their signature scent, the Lime Basil and Mandarin is gorgeous. The packaging is so classy and pretty, you won’t even have to wrap it!

Lipstick – Lipsticks are the epitome of glamour and every mother deserves to feel glamourous. The best thing is that even designer lipsticks are still pretty affordable, so why not get her a Chanel or YSL lipstick in a shade she loves? To make it extra special, consider an engraved lipstick case to go with the lipstick.

IMG_2929Homemade goodies – Cupcakes, cookies, cakes, a homemade gift is mostly always welcome and something that you can customise to suit your mum. I’m making a couple of sugar cookies for my mum this year so watch out for a post later this week on that!

Flowers – Yes, yes, carnations are a cliche and done to death, but flowers never a bad idea, unless she’s allergic to them, of course. However, if you want to make it a little special, consider making paper flowers out of letters to your mum. It’ll be something that she’ll appreciate and want to keep forever.

Take her out! – More than presents, what most mums want is to spend time with their kids, and sometimes, it’s difficult to find time to sit down and talk. So for Mothers’ Day, make time, take her out for a meal, make an mani/pedi appointment and gossip about your family ;p

Mothers’ Day need not be a great expense, it can be as simple as writing her a card or even giving her a call and you really shouldn’t be waiting till Mothers’ Day to make her feel special. But, any excuse is a good excuse to spoil your mum. Happy Mothers’ Day in advance to all mums out there!
